Simon Sinek talks about the idea of the "infinite" and "finite" game, some examples of "infinite" games would be the world of art, graffiti or business and of "finite" games there is no better example than life itself or a football game. A soccer game has a series of rules that the players must follow in order for it to work, but what makes it "finite" is the simple fact that it has a beginning and an end, that the greatest conditioning factor is time. Just as you cannot play a football game thinking that the game will never end, neither can you live as if you were never going to die, since life in the end is nothing more than the time you spend on earth and It is in your hands to decide how you are going to live that "finite" game in which every minute counts.
It could be said that the History of Humanity is the "infinite" game in which we are all participants, some come and go, some are born and others die, but there are always players, so who really wins? It could be said that the one who lasts over time wins, or in other words: the one who manages to stay in the game for as long as possible, even if only in the memory of other players. From my point of view, this is within the reach of very few people and it is impossible to look for it because that decision is not in your hands.
On the other hand, in the world of business or art many ¨sin¨ of wanting to play an ¨infinite¨ game with a ¨finite¨ mentality as I said before, and hell, it is not about winning or being aware of what does the next door, but to try to improve oneself with the means that one has at all times. In a company, it is more important to know how to transmit and remain faithful to a message, to a reason, than to obtain benefits. You will think that this is nonsense, but YOU are a "finite" player, so if you are not able to transmit what you feel and what your project means to you, the day you die, it will die with you because other players will not know how to transmit the same as you transmitted. And there is what is really difficult, knowing that the day you leave your company, another player will be in charge of remaining faithful and transmitting a culture created from certain values, motives and ideas.
The best example for this is the story of the 3 little pigs, because you can create something in a hurry but the day the wolf arrives, we all know that the house that will resist will be the one that is made with time, brick to brick. Money would be the best analogy for the house of straw, which we all know how it ends.
The only problem with this is that to prove it you need the only thing that we lack and that is time.
