SPRYNKS 003: ¿Vender más?¿A qué precio?

SPRYNKS 003: Sell more? At what price?

February began and with it, the desire to work on a new collection, we had some money saved and a great desire to show what we are capable of. They gave us a 2-month production deadline for the sweatshirts, if everything matched up we would have the sweatshirts in mid-April. Everything seemed to be going well until on March 14 they announced the general carrier strike that would result in a delay of almost 2 months.

The wait would come to an end on May 31, we got up early in case the order arrived first thing in the morning but we had to wait until 1 noon. When the doorbell rang, we almost had a heart attack, months of work were just a few steps away. The time it took me to go downstairs to open the door was enough for the delivery man to start unloading. Once open we saw something that would finish us off, the delivery man had a pallet with 12 boxes and another 3 more separately, at that moment all kinds of doubts and unknowns began. How was it possible that we had not counted on this? Where are we going to put all the boxes? Will we be able to sell almost 400 sweatshirts at 90 degrees and rising? And if we don't sell the clothes, what are we going to do with it? The answers to these questions would be obtained during the following month

To put you in the situation, we hadn't released any collection for 8 months, we decided to triple production compared to the last drop and in 10 minutes we have invoiced an amount of money that we had not seen in our lives and that we never thought possible. Despite the fact that things were going better than ever, there was something that did not quite convince us, that was draining our desire to continue selling but we could not say what it was.

After having managed to sell almost 500 garments this summer, we believe that it is a good time to stop and reflect on the way in which we have worked, progressed and how we can improve.

With our largest print run to date over, we have realized that we have saturated our own market, giving up our special value as a brand just for the sake of selling more. For this reason, we believe that since rectification is wise, we have time to correct and not become what we have always criticized.

We have been fighting for 4 years now to differentiate ourselves from other brands, seeking authenticity and connection with our customers, if we now dedicate ourselves to doing what the rest of the brands do, we will only become one more.

We are clear that Sprynks is no longer the hobby that it was at the beginning and that money is vital for the operation of a company, but we are working to find new ways of working that allow us to maintain the brand and its own values.

However, until we figure out how to scale the business in the most authentic way possible, we're not going to continue.

And if we don't find out? Well, we will have come this far, although if we can tell you anything it is that we have not accepted no for an answer in four years and we are not going to do so now.

In any case, don't you think it's better to go with your head held high than to become what was criticized so much, or what is the same, a hypocrite?

SPRYNKS.
